Remote Contract Job Overview

We're looking for an exceptional Senior ColdFusion/Lucee Full-Stack Developer who combines deep technical expertise with innovative problem-solving abilities and strong leadership qualities. In this role, you'll re-create our existing applications in an AI-first approach, develop new features, and leverage emerging technologies, including AI tools and models, to improve the GreatAuPair user experience. Beyond technical implementation, you'll provide guidance to the team, clearly communicate complex technical concepts, and help drive our technical vision forward. This is a remote, independent contractor position with long-term growth potential for the right candidate who can demonstrate both technical excellence and outstanding communication skills.

Technical Expertise: Minimum 10 years of ColdFusion/Lucee development experience with demonstrable mastery
Full-Stack Skills: Proficiency in JavaScript, React, and React Native for cross-platform development
AI Integration Experience: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, particularly Cursor IDE and its rules function for maintaining consistent code standards
Database Knowledge: Strong experience with SQL Server and database optimization
API Development: Experience creating and integrating RESTful APIs
Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to debug complex issues
Modern Development: Understanding of current web development trends and best practices
Leadership: Experience mentoring junior developers and guiding technical decisions
Communication Excellence: Superior verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Self-Management: Proven ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable code for both internal and public-facing applications
Implement new functionality and optimize existing features using ColdFusion/Lucee, JavaScript, React, and React Native
Create and integrate RESTful APIs, ensuring seamless data flow between front-end and back-end systems
Leverage AI tools (particularly Cursor) to enhance development workflows, ensuring consistent code standards
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement optimal solutions
Collaborate with the CEO and other development staff
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, translating business requirements into technical solutions
Document code, workflows, and business processes comprehensively
Participate in technical planning sessions and contribute architectural insights
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Desired Skills

Experience with Git and common CI/CD workflows
Knowledge of Atlassian tools, particularly JIRA
Familiarity with TypeScript for improved code reliability
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure)
Understanding of containerization and microservices architecture
Previous remote work experience
