Inventory / Help Desk Technology Support Specialist II – Contract-to-Hire
Location: West/Southwest Austin (78746) – Onsite
Engagement Type: 3-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $21.00/hour during contract phase
Schedule: Monday–Friday, generally 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with a 1-hr unpaid lunch break
Background Requirement: Must pass a criminal background Fingerprint check upon hire.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, ongoing basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
GTS Technology Solutions is seeking an Inventory / Help Desk Technology Support Specialist II to support a public-sector customer in the West/Southwest Austin area. This position combines technology asset and inventory management with Tier 1 help desk support, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both the administrative and hands-on sides of IT support.
The ideal candidate will have experience tracking technology assets, maintaining accurate inventory records, working with spreadsheets and asset management systems, coordinating equipment repair and warranty processes, and supporting users across Apple and Windows environments. This role requires excellent organization, attention to detail, technical aptitude, and a strong customer-service mindset.
Key Responsibilities
· Track technology inventory and maintain accurate records of equipment, devices, and supplies.
· Monitor and control the movement, assignment, return, and lifecycle of technology assets.
· Compile inventory reports and assist with forecasting future technology inventory requirements.
· Maintain accurate asset information within inventory and asset management systems.
· Support fee management processes associated with technology equipment as needed.
· Respond to incoming help desk calls, tickets, and work orders and provide Tier 1 support when appropriate.
· Route or escalate technical issues to the appropriate support resources when additional assistance is required.
· Issue and collect technology equipment as part of employee onboarding and offboarding.
· Facilitate equipment repairs and manufacturer/vendor warranty claims.
· Support loss mitigation processes and established asset-control procedures.
· Identify inventory or operational trends and provide information to management regarding potential process improvements.
· Document work orders, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, technical procedures, and accumulated knowledge within the help desk system.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and user information.
· Work collaboratively with other technology team members to complete tasks and projects with a high degree of initiative and coordination.
· Maintain and expand the technical knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform the position.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
· 2–5 years of experience working with technology asset management systems, spreadsheets, and/or inventory management
· Experience supporting devices operating on macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Microsoft Windows
· Experience providing Tier 1 help desk or end-user technical support
· Experience with equipment lifecycle management, repair coordination, warranty claims, or technology onboarding/offboarding is preferred
· High school diploma or GED
· Associate degree and/or relevant technical certification from an accredited institution preferred
· Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills
· Proficiency with common business and productivity applications
· Experience working with technology inventory, asset management, or related administrative systems
· Ability to provide Tier 1 technical support to end users

· Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Class C driver’s license is required. The selected candidate must be able to provide a current three-year driving record. Candidates relocating to Texas must be able to obtain a Texas driver’s license within the required timeframe after establishing Texas residency.
