Full Job Description

Basic job duties include, but are not limited to:
 Maintain a minute book containing all of the city council proceedings;
 Keep an ordinance book recording all of the ordinances passed by the council of the city;
 Update and maintain records of all city financial transactions, including the dates and
amounts of all receipts, and the person from whom the money was received, all
disbursements for which orders have been drawn upon the treasurer, the amount of
outstanding and unpaid orders, all accounts payable, all indebtedness, contingent
liabilities, all accounts receivable, and the amount of money remaining in the treasury;
 Review and certify that City financial records comply with state law and requirements set
forth by the state auditor (the “minimum reporting requirements”);
 Prepare a detailed statement of the financial affairs of the city in the style and form
prescribed by the state auditor;
 Submit appropriate required documents to state auditor as necessary or as requested;
 Give the required notice of each regular and special election, record the proceedings
thereof, notify officials of their election appointments to office, and certify to the county
auditor all appointments and the results of all city elections;
 Serve as the custodian of the city’s seal and records;
 Sign all official papers;
 Post and publish notices, ordinances, and resolutions as required;
 Provide notice of regular and special meetings.
 Draw up agendas and prepare or supervise the preparation of other working papers the
council uses at meetings; and
 Perform other appropriate duties as imposed by the city council;

Hours are 38-48 hours per month.
