Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Group Leader to oversee our precision machining operations. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of skilled machinists, ensuring the efficient setup, programming, and operation of CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. As a leader, you will foster a safety-first environment while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards and production schedules. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence manufacturing excellence and mentor a team dedicated to precision craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of CNC lathe operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to maximize productivity and quality.
Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software, ensuring they meet design specifications and manufacturing standards.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to produce precise parts.
Set up CNC lathe machines, including Mazatrol controls, ensuring proper tooling, calibration with bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
Monitor machining processes in real-time, making adjustments as needed for optimal performance while adhering to safety protocols.
Conduct routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling, or machine malfunctions.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste across machining operations.
Maintain detailed documentation of production activities, inspection reports, and process improvements for continuous quality assurance.

Experience

Proven experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of CNC lathe operations and programming.
Hands-on expertise with Mazatrol required.
Strong understanding of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, and mechanical drawings for accurate part fabrication.
Experience operating CNC milling machines alongside lathes is advantageous;
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision tools.
Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, forklifts, and welding equipment while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations involved in machining tasks.
Mechanical aptitude combined with experience in lean manufacturing practices to foster continuous improvement within the team.
