Full Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee and organize the pastry operations of the shop. This role is key to ensuring high-quality customer service, seasonal pastry innovation, keeping up with pastry trends, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the bakery meets health and safety regulations.

Duties:

- Manage all aspects of the bakery, including production, inventory, and innovation.

- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for baking processes

- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards

- Train and collaborate with bakery staff, providing guidance and support as needed

- Monitor sales trends together with Manager and adjust production levels accordingly

- Creates and communicates weekly productivity goals, and adjusts bakery production based on changing business flow

- Maintains hands-on knowledge of all bakery roles and steps in regularly to perform various responsibilities as businesses needs require

- Facilitates the opening and closing of the bakery, as needed

- Create and update menu offerings based on customer preferences and seasonal availability

Skills:

- Proficiency in laminated doughs

- Proficiency in food safety practices

- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems

- Strong background in scratch pastry or kitchen management

- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively

- Knowledge of bakery operations, equipment and techniques

- Previous experience as an Lead Baker, Pastry Cook, Assistant Pastry Chef in a bakery, restaurant, hotel, or coffee shop is a plus

- Additional certification (e.g. Pastry Degree, Hospitality Management, ServSafe) is a plus.

- Excellent customer service skills
