Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced corrugated packaging environment. This role supports efficient operations by minimizing downtime and ensuring all equipment runs safely and reliably, while assisting with mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair projects as directed by the Maintenance Leadership.
Essential Job Functions:
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform routine preventive maintenance on corrugators, conveyors, die cutters, stackers, and any other equipment in the facility.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production issues
- Inspect machinery to identify potential problems and recommend corrective actions
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs

Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment
- Identify and repair air, water, glue, oil, and assist with steam leaks
- Troubleshoot and repair basic pumps and pump systems
- Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders
- Repair or replace cylinders and other mechanical components
- Work with various mechanical hardware (fasteners, fittings, threads, etc.)
- Perform basic fabrication and repairs using welding, machining, and fastening methods
- Work with bearings, bushings, locking collars, chains, sprockets, belts, pulleys, and tensioners
- Maintain proper alignment, tolerances, and mechanical fit
- Assist with rigging and setup for roll changes and major repairs
- Assemble racking, equipment, and related structures
- Read and interpret basic schematics and mechanical drawings
Electrical & Facility Support

Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Maintain facility systems including lighting, basic electrical, and compressed air systems
General Maintenance Duties

Replace or repair defective components such as motors, belts, bearings, valves, and sensors
- Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and installations
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports
- Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
Scheduling & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Work overtime and weekends as required
- Support maintenance team members with repairs and projects as needed

Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or GED (technical or trade school preferred)

Basic knowledge of:

Mechanical systems (bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes)

Electrical systems (motors, sensors, basic controls)

Hydraulics and pneumatics

Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on production equipment

Experience using hand and power tools safely

Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and schematics

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and reporting

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and a rotating schedule as needed

Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
Preferred

1–3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

Experience in corrugated or packaging manufacturing (corrugators, die cutters, flexo folder gluers)

Basic PLC troubleshooting experience

Welding and basic fabrication skills
-
Experience with pumps, conveyors, and high-speed production lines
-
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
-
Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices
Machines/Tools/Equipment:

Hand tools and power tools (wrenches, sockets, drills, grinders, impact tools, etc.)

Precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, alignment tools, feeler gauges)

Welding and fabrication equipment (MIG, TIG, stick welders, cutting torches)

Machine shop equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, band saw)

Hydraulic and pneumatic tools and systems

Corrugated production equipment (corrugators, die cutters, flexo folder gluers, conveyors, stackers)

Rigging equipment (chain falls, hoists, slings, lifting devices)

Electrical testing equipment (multimeter, voltage testers, amp clamps)

Safety:
Employees are expected to follow all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety as outlined during their training.
Working Conditions:
Maintenance Technicians must be able to:

Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods during the work shift
- Lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs, and occasionally heavier with assistance
- Climb ladders, stairs, and work on elevated platforms as required
- Work in confined spaces when necessary
- Use hand and power tools safely and with precision
- Perform repetitive motions including gripping, twisting, and reaching
- Work in environments with loud noise; use of hearing protection is required
- Operate forklifts, tow motors, and other material handling equipment safely
- Work in varying temperatures (approx. 50°F–100°F) and both indoor and outdoor conditions
- Maintain balance and coordination while moving around machinery, conveyors, and production equipment
- Demonstrate sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to read schematics, gauges, and small components
