Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Thrift Store Assistant Manager II’s primary function is to coordinate all volunteer efforts. The Assistant Managers will also assist the Thrift Store Manager in the daily operations of the store and serve as back-up to the manager in the event of his/her absence. The Thrift Store Assistant Managers will also be responsible for all other duties designated by the Executive Director and/or the Thrift Store Manager that will benefit the organization. This position interacts with the general public and will require a positive attitude and demeanor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

Recruits, trains, and retains CAPA thrift store volunteers.
Presents CAPA volunteer opportunities to the community and seeks ways to grow the volunteer pool.
Maintains the volunteer database with updated contact information.
Tracks volunteer hours and provides monthly reports to Volunteer Coordinator.
Collects information on qualifications and skills.
Arrange for training when needed.
Manage schedules for everyday activities.
Assign responsibilities as appropriate.
Communicate frequently with volunteers.
Ensure volunteers are satisfied by creating a healthy working environment.
Evaluate the volunteers' work.
Give constructive feedback.
Assists the Thrift Store Manager with the daily operations of the store.
Operates the register as needed.
Receives, screens, processes, and prices donated items.
Records and acknowledges donations accurately.
Transfers processed goods to appropriate areas.
Seeks opportunities to increase donations, sales, and improve operations continually.
Assists in keeping the interior and the exterior of the thrift store clear of donations and debris and maintained daily.
Ensures that donations are handled in an efficient way, coordinating with processors, drivers, and volunteers, as necessary.

Miscellaneous

Maintains confidentiality requirements of the agency.
Reports immediately to the Department of Social Services or Law Enforcement any suspicion of abuse or neglect as required by law.
Participates in and represents CAPA at community events and provides support at CAPA events, as assigned.
Performs any other related duties as may be necessary to the functioning of the agency or at the request of the supervisor.

Qualifications
Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
Must be bondable.
Must have at least three years’ experience in a retail setting.
Must have a working knowledge of databases and MS Office (especially Excel)
Must have the ability to interact in a professional manner with the general public.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must be a team player.
Must be 21 years or older.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, approved insurance coverage (to include being approved by CAPA’s automobile insurance carrier), and clean driving record.
Ability to climb stairs, bend, crouch, and lift 50lbs and may require long periods of sitting and standing.
Must have no criminal record.
Must have no history of substantiated child abuse or neglect.
