Qualifications

Minimum two (2) years of full-time center-based management experience managing large (> 75 capacity) center-based programs in a program supervisor role.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a teacher of children in any age group enrolled in an early learning program.
College degree in early childhood education that includes a minimum of 45 college quarter credits in early childhood education.
Value learning and growing as an educator, including reflection on daily experiences
Willingness to exceed DCYF annual training requirement of 10 hours per year
Candidates should have all credentials required for the position of a program supervisor per WAC or be willing to get them shortly after joining.
A thorough knowledge of WA Licensing regulations (WACs) for childcare centers and a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education focused on learning through play, social-emotional learning and opportunities to connect with nature.
Strong ability to model effective child guidance with the goal of minimizing classroom disruptions so that all children benefit from a calm, engaging environment.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with colleagues, families, and community partners
Action-oriented, organized, strategic thinker, focused on achieving a balance between prioritizing assigned responsibilities with the good of the center as a whole.

Job Description Overview

We are looking for a dedicated program supervisor who thrives on mentoring teachers and implementing a curriculum that emphasizes learning through play, social-emotional learning and the importance of nature in healthy child development. This position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community by ensuring quality care for children and peace of mind for families, while leading and supporting a dedicated team of early childhood professionals. Responsibilities

Position Overview: You will be part of the management team responsible for managing the overall program including hiring, staff scheduling/training/evaluation, program planning, program implementation and evaluation; student assessments, family relations, marketing, enrollments and center operations.

Operational Management: Supervise daily activities, ensure compliance with state and health regulations and maintain facility safety. This includes assisting with a variety of administrative tasks, as well as opening or closing the Center at least 50% of the time.

Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the center floor, ensuring smooth transitions, adequate coverage and consistent routines.
Manage the work schedules of teaching staff.
Monitor indoor and outdoor spaces to maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Respond to immediate needs, incidents, or concerns with calm, sound judgment.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations, including planning and monitoring safety drills.
Conduct regular safety checks and address hazards promptly.
Ensure weekly classroom cleaning and playground maintenance is done.

Curriculum and Development: Lead the implementation of a season-based curriculum with Creative Curriculum goals and objectives, Second Step lessons and portfolio development.

Family and Community Engagement: Tour interested families, communicate with enrolled families and manage transitions into and out of the program.

Promote the positive image of the Center and play a major role in ensuring it is the provider of choice for quality care in the community.
Send simple reminder messages to families as needed.
Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and caregivers.
Assist with tours, events, and family-centered activities as needed.

Staff Management/Leadership:

Recruit, select and retain quality staff.
Train, Supervise and Evaluate teachers.
Promote teamwork: Create a positive and rewarding atmosphere that inspires others to excel, while working with leadership to maintain a high retention rate for teachers and families.
Foster an environment among staff that is supportive, flexible and reflective.
Provide on-floor guidance, coaching, and support to staff.
Assist with scheduling, break rotations, and staff assignments.
Model best practices in child engagement, behavior guidance, and communication.
Support staff in managing behavior through proactive measures, resolving conflicts, and implementing positive guidance strategies.
Set short- and long-term goals for teaching staff.
