LEAD CARPENTER - RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

Jackson Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter who takes pride in doing things right the first time. This is a hands-on position for a skilled carpenter who can perform high-quality rough and finish carpentry while helping guide laborers, trade partners, and daily jobsite activity.
The Lead Carpenter serves as a quality leader in the field. This person works closely with the Superintendent to maintain craftsmanship standards, protect the project schedule, identify potential issues early, and deliver an exceptional finished product for our clients.
Position Details
- Full-time position
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday, day shift
- Jobsites throughout the Shreveport–Bossier area
- Pay range: $25–$35 per hour
Compensation within the advertised range will be based on demonstrated experience, skill set, craftsmanship, productivity, leadership ability, and overall value to the team. Performance will also be evaluated during an introductory trial period to determine the appropriate ongoing rate within the stated range.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled rough and finish carpentry
- Complete framing, blocking, and structural modifications
- Install trim, cabinets, doors, built-ins, and other precision components
- Review the project scope and expectations before beginning work
- Follow construction drawings, specifications, and company standards
- Verify layouts, measurements, dimensions, and alignments before installation
- Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy
- Identify and correct potential issues before work progresses or is covered
- Help prevent callbacks and rework through careful attention to detail
- Assist the Superintendent in maintaining jobsite quality and efficiency
- Help direct the daily work of laborers and helpers
- Provide clear guidance so work is completed correctly the first time
- Help communicate plans and field expectations to trade partners
- Assist with short-term planning for the next one to three workdays
- Identify upcoming labor, material, tool, and equipment needs
- Communicate field conditions or conflicts that could affect quality or schedule
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional work area
- Protect clients’ homes, finished surfaces, and installed materials
- Interact professionally and respectfully with homeowners
- Lead by example through craftsmanship, dependability, and professionalism
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of residential carpentry experience
- Strong rough and finish carpentry skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Experience with jobsite layout and precision installation
- Proficiency with common carpentry tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear and respectful communication skills
- Reliable transportation to jobsites throughout the Shreveport–Bossier area
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of an active construction position
Residential remodeling experience is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on active jobsites
- Ability to safely lift and carry construction tools and materials
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in typical Louisiana conditions
- Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
