PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, release, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and products throughout the product lifecycle. These positions apply engineering principles to develop innovative, reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions that meet customer, business, and regulatory requirements. Mechanical Engineering collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and Sales to ensure successful product development, production support, and ongoing product performance.
Mechanical Engineers are assigned to either the New Product Development (NPD) team, where the primary focus is the concept, design, validation, and launch of new products and technologies, or the Design & Release Engineering (DRE) team, where the primary focus is sustaining engineering, product improvements, engineering change management, manufacturing support, and continuous product optimization. Responsibilities and technical leadership increase progressively based on position level as an Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Lead Engineer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Plan, prioritize, and execute engineering assignments to meet project schedules, cost objectives, quality expectations, and requirements.

Design mechanical components, assemblies and systems using SolidWorks CAD software.

Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Material (BOM).
-
Create and apply material specifications to designs and components for applications.
-
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses supporting product performance, durability, safety, and reliability.
-
Participate in and lead design reviews, risk assessments, and product validation activities as appropriate to position level.

Develop and execute validation plans for products and/or components
-
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Service and other departments.
-
Write test reports to document and communicate studies and testing.
-
Troubleshoot product, manufacturing and field issues.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
-
Maintain engineering documentation in PDM and ERP systems.
-
Develop costing models and analysis reports.
-
Perform weight distribution analysis on assemblies and systems.
-
Ensure compliance with company engineering standards and applicable regulations.
ADDITIONAL TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
New Product Development (NPD)

Innovation and development of new products, systems, or features utilizing the Product Development Process (PDP) for projects and assignments.

Lead concept development, feasibility studies, and selection for new designs.

Develop prototypes and coordinate testing, including customer sites.

Validate designs prior to release aligned to function, reliability, safety, manufacturability, and cost.

Translate customer and market requirements into product designs.
-
Support product launches and issue resolution during early build stages.
Design & Release Engineering (DRE)

Sustaining engineering, product improvements, and ensuring released designs remain robust and manufacturable.
-
Create and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s).
-
Maintain released product documentation including BOMs, CAD, and drawing updates.
-
Improve manufacturability and product cost through optimization.
-
Resolve field, production and warranty issues.
-
Support supplier qualification and design changes.
-
Support supplier quality improvements and component obsolescence activities.

Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university).
