Duration: 3+ Months to long-term

Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Nurse Consultant provides nursing consultation and program support related to Childhood Lead case management. The position works closely with local health department nurse case managers, program coordinators, and other team members to provide guidance on applicable regulations, support training and education initiatives, review program reports, and contribute to program planning and quality improvement activities.
The Nurse Consultant will also support assigned projects involving data quality and environmental inspections and will learn and utilize the database system for Childhood Lead cases. The ideal candidate will have strong case management, communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with childhood lead poisoning prevention is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Provide information and consultation to local health department nurse case managers regarding Childhood Lead case management.
Provide guidance related to NJAC 8:51 and NJAC 8:51A regulations.
Participate in planning and conducting training programs for nursing personnel.
Support educational programs and activities for healthcare and nursing staff.
Review grantee progress reports and provide appropriate feedback.
Participate in program planning with program coordinators and other staff.
Assist in developing and maintaining nursing standards and procedures.
Prepare and revise educational materials, guides, manuals, and related resources for nurses.
Collaborate with team members on assigned data quality projects.
Support projects related to environmental inspections.
Learn and utilize the database system for Childhood Lead cases.
Review and support accurate case management and program data.
Assist with identifying data quality issues and supporting corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with local health departments and program stakeholders.
Provide nursing consultation and technical assistance as assigned.
Work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with program staff.
Support program initiatives related to childhood lead poisoning prevention.
Perform other duties and program-related activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Active New Jersey State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Current BLS/CPR certification required.
Knowledge of nursing case management practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to analyze information and maintain accurate documentation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to learn and effectively use database systems.
Experience in childhood lead poisoning and prevention is preferred.

Required Documents

New Jersey State RN License.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Current BLS/CPR Certification.
