Kitchen Manager Job Description

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality and consistent preparation of product, maintaining regulatory safety and sanitation standards, managing kitchen staff, and controlling product costs.

This role requires confident leadership, organizational skills, and desire to compete in a national food market while maintaining high quality ingredients. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food chemistry, ingredient pairing, and functional math skills used in kitchens for scaling and converting recipes.

Key Responsibilities

-Daily supervision of kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and quality

-Train, schedule and manage kitchen and fulfillment staff with clear daily direction on tasks to complete

-Management of MIN/MAX Kanban system for product on the shelves

-Quality control of all product before it leaves the kitchen or becomes packaged; ensure all food is prepared and presented to company standards

-Monthly inventory, management of LOT and expiration numbers of all products. Monitor food costs, waste, and maintain a budget.

-Relationship building with suppliers under the supervision of the Operations Manager to maintain timely ordering and inventory keeping

-Enforce health, safety, and sanitation regulations

-Receive and organize orders from wholesale and retail departments; appropriately plan the cooking schedule based on need/ order of operations

-Handle equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs or routine scheduling when necessary

-Resolve any kitchen or food related issues quickly and effectively

-Build and/or modify existing training and SOP systems to fit the growth trajectory of the company

-Basic knowledge of Slack and Microsoft programs

-Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours, and must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time

When We Need You

This is a unique experience to lead our company to the national food market on a 9-5 schedule. Say goodbye to late nights on the line, because we are offering a competitive environment with great hours, and no required holidays.

This position is full time, Monday-Friday 7a-3p, 8a-4p or 9a-5p. Weekends and evenings are optional, never required. Closed on select holidays.

About You

-Proven experience in kitchen leadership role, organizing and scaling teams for growth, and mitigating issues as they arise

-Strong knowledge in food safety standards and regulations

-Professional interdepartmental communication skills

-Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment

-Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

-Good communication and problem-solving skills

-Culinary degree or equivalent certification experience preferred
