Financial Paraplanner / Planning Associate
Stonehearth Capital Management | Danvers, MA | Hybrid Optional
About Stonehearth Capital Management
Stonehearth Capital Management (SCM) is a fiduciary Registered Investment Advisor based in Danvers, Massachusetts. We help families make thoughtful financial decisions around retirement, investments, taxes, estate planning, charitable giving, and major life transitions.
We're a small, close-knit team, and many of us have worked together for the better part of a decade or longer. That longevity reflects something we value highly: we genuinely enjoy working together and take pride in the work we do for our clients.
We put our clients' interests first — always — and have built our reputation around long-term relationships, referrals, and exceptional service. That commitment is reflected in our 5.0-star Google rating across more than 120 client reviews.
We're looking for someone who shares that client-first mindset and wants to build a long-term career in financial planning.
The Role
As a Financial Paraplanner / Planning Associate, you'll work closely with our financial advisors and client-service team to support the planning, implementation, and ongoing service work that helps keep our clients on track toward their goals.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You'll work on financial plans, help prepare for client meetings, coordinate implementation of recommendations, answer client calls and emails, and serve as an important day-to-day contact for the clients of the advisors you support.
This is not simply an administrative position. You'll gain direct exposure to comprehensive financial planning and work alongside experienced advisors while progressively taking on greater responsibility as your skills and knowledge develop.
For the right person, this role offers a meaningful career path within Stonehearth. That may include progression into more advanced financial-planning responsibilities and, for someone interested in becoming a financial advisor, the opportunity to eventually work directly with clients of their own.
What You'll Do
Financial Planning & Advisor Support
- Build, update, and maintain comprehensive financial plans using eMoney Advisor
- Prepare for client meetings by gathering information, updating planning analyses, preparing materials, and identifying outstanding planning items
- Assist advisors with retirement planning, cash-flow analysis, tax planning, estate planning, charitable strategies, insurance analysis, and other financial-planning needs
- Support estate-planning document preparation through EncorEstate Plans
- Coordinate implementation of recommendations and track client action items following meetings
- Assist with prospective-client planning, preparation, and follow-up
- Work closely with advisors to understand the reasoning behind recommendations and progressively take ownership of planning and implementation responsibilities
Client Communication & Service
- Serve as a primary day-to-day service contact for clients of the advisors you support
- Answer incoming client calls and respond to client emails throughout the day, helping resolve routine service needs and directing planning or advisory questions to the appropriate advisor
- Greet clients when they arrive at the office and help ensure they have a welcoming, professional experience
- Provide phone and client service coverage for other advisory teams when teammates are unavailable
- Coordinate client account transfers, distributions, contributions, Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), and other service requests
- Work with custodians and other financial service providers to resolve client needs
- Draft client correspondence and help ensure requests are completed accurately and promptly
- Track implementation of financial planning recommendations through completion
CRM, Workflow & Technology
- Maintain accurate client information and activity records in Redtail CRM
- Create, monitor, and complete workflows and follow-up activities
- Coordinate client meeting scheduling and advisor follow-up
- Help maintain strong data integrity and consistent internal processes
- Look for opportunities to improve workflows, client service, and team efficiency
- Use technology and AI tools thoughtfully to streamline repetitive work, improve accuracy, and enhance the client experience
- Help oversee recurring client service workflows using technology and automation where appropriate
Team Support
As part of a small, collaborative firm, you'll also help provide coverage across the team when needed, including assisting clients of other advisory teams when colleagues are unavailable.
What We're Looking For
- 1–3+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, financial services, or a related client service role preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- FPQP® designation preferred, or willingness to obtain it with our support
- Genuine interest in financial planning and a desire to continue developing professionally
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- A client-first mindset and genuine enjoyment of helping people
- Comfortable speaking with clients by phone, email, and in person
- Able to shift effectively between focused planning work and incoming client-service needs throughout the day
- Comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities while also working collaboratively within a small team
- Comfortable learning and using technology, including AI tools, to improve planning, client service, and operational workflows
- Experience with Redtail, Orion, eMoney Advisor, EncorEstate Plans, Schwab, and Microsoft 365 is helpful but not required
Why Stonehearth
We're large enough to provide sophisticated financial planning and investment management, but small enough that your work will be visible, your ideas will matter, and you'll have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals.

- Health insurance: eligible after 3 months
- 401(k): 4% employer match, eligible after 3 months
