Full Job Description

Staff Accounting – Real Estate & Property Management

Our establish real estate investment and property management company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accounting to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end close, and supporting the accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The ideal candidate has experience in real estate accounting, property management, and strong analytical and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements for assigned property portfolio.
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Reconcile bank accounts, escrow accounts, security deposits, and general ledger accounts.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Record tenant billings, rent collections, CAM reconciliations, and other property-related transactions.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Prepare owner and investor financial reports.
Support annual audits and tax preparation by providing required documentation.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Collaborate with property managers to resolve accounting discrepancies and financial questions.
Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury functions.
Maintain accurate financial records within the property management software.

Qualifications

2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate investment or property management.
Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Rent Manager Software and Restaurant Software, such as SpotOn and One Metrix are a plus.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
