Buyer/Scheduler -Job Description

1 DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

1.1 The Purchaser will provide the leadership and direction necessary to sustain the growth of Hoosier Molded Products, Inc. and to complete the job functions in an effective and efficient manner.

1.2 The functions of the Purchaser will be to direct the overall activities of Job Scheduling, Purchasing and assist with Inventory Management.

1.3 The activities of this position will be completed in a manner that ensures the on-time delivery of quality products to the Company’s customers, while maintaining all associated costs at or below the established budgeted amounts.

2 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

2.1 This position reports directly to, and is fully accountable to the President.

2.2 Reporting to this position is:

3 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Requires a High School diploma or a GED Certificate.

3.2 Prefer an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Courses in Purchasing and Inventory Management will be helpful

3.3 Knowledgeable of Inventory Control principles and tracking systems.

3.4 Position requires purchasing experience in vendor qualification and price negotiations. Experience is needed in producing accurate and meaningful materials schedules to support the on-time manufacturing requirements

3.5 This individual must have the skills and abilities to directly interface with all members of the work force and management. He/She must possess the necessary drive and skills to conduct multiple tasks in a fast paced and ever changing environment.

3.6 The physical requirements are those of working in an office and also in a warehouse. The individual will sit for sixty percent (60%) of the time and will utilize the normal body movements of twisting, bending, turning, reaching and using the hands and arms in completing paperwork and associated tasks. Time will be spent in the warehouse, using the full range of body motions while verifying inventory levels.

3.7 The language required is English. Basic computer skills using various software packages, along with business mathematics will be used. Spatial abilities are required for designing required reports.

4 WORKING CONDITIONS

4.1 The working conditions vary from a climate-controlled non-smoking office environment to a warehouse with the noise of operating machinery and with possible dirty conditions. Some travel by automobile may be required and the normal travel hazards will apply.

4.2 The workday will consist of 8 to 10 hours per day with some weekend and evening work required.

5 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

5.1 Keep the President informed in a timely manner of the status of the functions for which this position is responsible, both financially and operationally.

5.2 Attain or exceed the established Customer Service goals with on time and accurate job scheduling, material acquisition, and delivery of finished products.

5.3 Purchase all production materials at or below the targeted costs for the project.

5.4 Ensure that all actions of the Company under the supervision of this position are accomplished in an ethical and prudent manner.

5.5 Develops, where necessary, and implements proper inventory control procedures to meet the established goal for inventory accuracy.

5.6 Maintain a visual or computerized system of job production schedules and material availability that production personnel and management personnel may view and determine the status of any order.

6 DUTIES AND TASKS

6.1 Establish the necessary goals within the department to meet the Company’s overall objectives and ensure these goals are achieved.

6.2 Conducts physical inventory, as necessary, to verify the accuracy of the inventory control system. Where necessary, modify the inventory control system to achieve the accuracy target.

6.3 Inventory accuracy is maintained at 96.5%

6.4 Controls all orders for production materials, supplies, and components ensuring that production requirements are met and customer orders are shipped as scheduled.

6.5 Responsible for complying with all local, state and federal laws and other agency regulations.

6.6 Ensures the ethical and prudent operation of the department in all matters involving the Company’s Purchasing.

6.7 Works with the President to establish the proper pricing levels for all production materials.

6.8 Reviews with the President, on a monthly basis, the variance report for the Materials portion of the financial statement.

6.9 Acts as Chairperson for Scheduling meetings involving, at a minimum, the Operations Manager and any other employee deemed necessary.

6.10 Performs other duties and tasks as directed by the President.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
