Godwin Manufacturing is hiring a dependable Welding Supervisor to join our manufacturing team in Dunn, NC.
This is a hands-on manufacturing role for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, safety-minded, and willing to work as part of a production team. Previous supervisor experience with metal working background is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Supervise, coordinate, and support daily welding and fabrication activities to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
· Assign work to welders based on production priorities, employee skill level, equipment availability, and workflow needs.
· Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, production drawings, work orders, and specifications to assist employees with fit-up, welding requirements, and problem resolution.
· Monitor work in progress and inspect completed welds and assemblies for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, strength, appearance, and conformance to company standards.
· Provide hands-on welding, fitting, fabrication, troubleshooting, and rework support as needed to maintain production flow and quality expectations.
· Train, coach, and mentor welders on safe work practices, proper equipment use, welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, quality expectations, and company procedures.
· Promote and enforce compliance with company safety rules, required personal protective equipment, housekeeping expectations, and applicable manufacturing safety practices.
· Identify production delays, material shortages, equipment concerns, quality issues, and staffing needs; communicate issues promptly to management and appropriate support departments.
· Coordinate with supervisors, quality personnel, maintenance, material handlers, fabricators, assemblers, and management to resolve production issues and support efficient operations.
· Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, workmanship, and adherence to workplace expectations; report concerns to management and Human Resources as appropriate.
· Assist with employee performance feedback, corrective action documentation, training records, and staffing recommendations in accordance with company procedures.
· Ensure welding equipment, fixtures, tools, and work areas are used properly, maintained in safe working condition, and kept clean and organized.
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, productivity, material flow, rework reduction, and employee training.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Welder Supervisor supervises assigned welding employees within the manufacturing department and provides day-to-day work direction, training, coaching, and workflow coordination. This role may also participate in hiring input, performance feedback, corrective action recommendations, scheduling, and employee development in coordination with management and Human Resources.

· Training and Skill Development: Supports onboarding, cross-training, skill development, and reinforcement of welding, fabrication, safety, and quality procedures.
· Communication and Issue Resolution: Communicates production delays, material shortages, equipment concerns, quality issues, and employee matters promptly and appropriately.
· Documentation Accuracy: Completes required production, attendance, quality, safety, training, and corrective action support documentation accurately and timely.
· Continuous Improvement: Contributes to improvements that support safety, efficiency, quality, material flow, rework reduction, and employee development.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED required; technical training in welding, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
· Prior welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment required.
· Prior lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of MIG welding, blueprints, shop drawings, measuring tools, and fabrication practices.
· Ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
· Ability to identify welding defects, production issues, safety concerns, and quality problems and take appropriate corrective action or escalate concerns as needed.
· Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
· Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, fixtures, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
· Basic computer or recordkeeping skills sufficient to complete production, attendance, training, safety, or quality documentation as required.
· Ability to work independently, make sound decisions under production deadlines, and communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, quality personnel, maintenance, and management.
· Ability to follow and enforce written and verbal instructions, company policies, safety rules, and production procedures.
· Welding certification may be preferred or required depending on company needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands to handle tools, materials, equipment, and production documents.
· Frequently required to move throughout the production area to observe work, assist employees, inspect assemblies, and respond to production needs.
· Frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and components; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· May be required to perform welding, fitting, grinding, inspection, or troubleshooting work in awkward positions, at varying heights, or inside and around partially assembled truck bodies.
· Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other protective gear.
· Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, sparks, heat, dust, fumes, moving machinery, and changing temperatures.

Schedule
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch.
Overtime: Overtime shifts may be required as needed.
Attendance: Consistent, on-time attendance is required. Tardiness and excessive absences are not acceptable.
