SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy Overview:
SR1 is an award-winning non-profit located in Ridgeland, MS, with over 10 years of experience in providing high-quality college preparatory services to K-12 students in Central Mississippi. SR1 has been authorized to open SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA), the first public, free charter school focused on College Preparatory STEM education.
Position Overview:
Are you a licensed driver (CDL with a passenger and/or s endorsement) and highly responsible driver that desires to drive for an organization that values you as a driver? Look no further than SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA).
SR1 is seeking licensed (a CDL ‘ with a passenger/school endorsement preferred) and highly responsible drivers that have experience in driving. The drivers will transport college potential students to and from community learning sites including K-12 schools, college and universities, and museums within designated route(s) while also ensuring the safety of passengers while in the vehicles.
Drivers in this classification will be part of a small team of two-three drivers that will receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class is responsible for the safe operation of an educational bus and vehicles for ensuring the safety of student passengers while meeting established schedules.
Hourly salary depending on driving history and experience.

Job Requirements
- Drives an educational transportation vehicle within a prescribe route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging passengers at designated stops.
- Transports passengers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
- Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to SR1 policy
- Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
- Conducts a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the vehicle.
- Help passenger with improving social skills and be respectful.
- Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
- Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries.
- Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
- Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
- Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required
- Attends driver training programs
- Performs related duties as required
Employment standards
- Possession of a valid and appropriate Mississippi Driver's License
- Possession of a safe driving record
- Knowledge of the provisions of the Mississippi Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as applied to the operation of vehicles used in the transport of children
- Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
- Knowledge of safe driving practices
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
- Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
- Ability to establish and maintain proper student conduct on school vehicle
- Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently
- Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
- Ability to maintain valid license
- Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship with those contacted in the performance of required duties
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
