Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

The Part-Time Course Materials Assistant supports the Course Materials Manager in ensuring students and faculty have timely access to required and recommended course materials. This position assists with textbook ordering, inventory management, and fulfillment for physical and digital course materials, including the Inclusive Access program. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, processing shipments, communicating with faculty and vendors, and providing customer service to students regarding course materials. The assistant also helps monitor adoption deadlines, verify course and enrollment data, and supports special projects that improve operational efficiency. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency with computer systems and spreadsheets, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail and academic environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience

Six months to one year of experience in customer service, retail operations, administrative support, data entry, or a related field. Experience with point-of-sale systems in a retail environment, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in a college bookstore, retail bookstore, or higher education environment. Previous experience with inventory management, purchasing, or vendor communications. Experience preparing reports and maintaining records in spreadsheets or databases.

Proposed Salary

$17.00 hourly. Paid on a bi-weekly basis.

ABILITIES

This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy; learn and effectively use bookstore, inventory, and course material management systems; adapt to changing priorities; interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE

This position requires knowledge of customer service principles and practices; basic office procedures and administrative support functions; Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word; and inventory control, purchasing, and recordkeeping practices.

SKILLS

This position requires strong organizational and time management skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in data entry and spreadsheet management; and strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Physical Requirements Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
