Full Job Description

Bookkeeper / Public Accountant Wanted

Our firm is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team, supporting general accounting, payroll, and client financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing day-to-day financial recordkeeping for multiple clients or accounts.

Required Experience:

Minimum 3 years of general accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting or professional environment
QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online experience required (certification a plus)
Payroll processing experience preferred (3 years)
Tax experience a plus (1 year)

General Accounting Duties:

Prepare and post journal entries
Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are accurately recorded
Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, resolving outstanding items promptly
Prepare monthly financial statements
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Support internal and external audits with documentation as needed

Payroll Administration:

Process payroll accurately and on schedule
Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy
Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll tax reporting
Coordinate with HR on employee changes affecting payroll

Additional Responsibilities:

Sales & use tax calculations and reporting
Monthly accounting write-up and financial statement preparation
Maintain documentation and records per retention policies
Build and maintain client relationships
Support process improvements and internal controls
Assist with special projects as needed

What We're Looking For:

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and general computer/MS Office skills
Excellent client service, communication, and interpersonal skills
A dependable, self-motivated team player who takes ownership of results
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining strict confidentiality
High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field strongly preferred

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
