Full Job Description

Income Tax Preparer Wanted

Join our dynamic team as a Tax Preparer and become a vital part of helping individuals and businesses navigate the complex world of tax compliance and reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in public accounting, expand your knowledge of corporate and partnership tax, and contribute to clients' financial success.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns using advanced tax preparation software, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Research tax issues and provide recommendations to leadership
Gather and analyze financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, balance sheets, income statements, and other supporting records
Review client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose corrections
Prepare workpapers and schedules to support the review process
Maintain accurate client records and documentation in accounting software, and ensure compliance with firm policies
Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns
Respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Collaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needs
Support client acquisition efforts through marketing initiatives and excellent customer service

Qualifications & Core Competencies:

Three years experience in tax preparation, public accounting, or related fields, with a focus on individual and corporate taxes
Strong knowledge of tax law, tax reporting requirements, and compliance standards
Proficiency in tax preparation software (Lacerte, Drake Tax, or similar) and accounting software (QuickBooks)
Solid knowledge of bookkeeping practices and technical accounting principles
Analytical mindset with high accuracy in math and data entry (10-key typing proficiency)
Effective, trust-building client communication and relationship management skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax season
Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Basic knowledge of financial sales/marketing strategies and partnership tax expertise a plus

Work Environment & Expectations:

Part-time or full-time
