Ocean Import Operations Specialist

Job Type: Full-time, On-site

Pay: $25.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week

About the Position

SEASKY LOGISTICS INC is seeking a bilingual Ocean Import Operations Specialist to join our Los Angeles-area office. This position is responsible for coordinating ocean import shipments from pre-arrival through final delivery, communicating with overseas agents, customers, ocean carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, terminals, and warehouses.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and able to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced international logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage ocean import shipments from pre-arrival through customs clearance, container release, delivery, empty return, and file closing.
Review and process shipping documents, including master bills of lading, house bills of lading, arrival notices, commercial invoices, packing lists, and delivery orders.
Coordinate with overseas agents, customers, ocean carriers, NVOCCs, customs brokers, terminals, trucking companies, rail ramps, and warehouses.
Monitor vessel arrival, customs clearance, cargo availability, last free day, demurrage, detention, storage, delivery appointments, and empty-container return.
Arrange container pickup, transloading, warehousing, and final delivery based on customer requirements.
Provide customers and internal teams with timely shipment updates and promptly resolve operational exceptions.
Verify carrier and vendor charges, collect supporting documents, and assist the accounting team with billing and cost reconciliation.
Maintain complete and accurate shipment records in the company’s operating system.
Follow company procedures and applicable U.S. import, transportation, and trade-compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, including verbal and written communication.
Previous experience in ocean import operations, freight forwarding, NVOCC operations, or international logistics is preferred.
Knowledge of ocean import documentation, customs-clearance coordination, drayage, terminals, warehouses, demurrage, detention, and container return is strongly preferred.
Strong communication, customer-service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other office or logistics-management systems.
