Data Center Project Manager

Position Summary
The Data Center Project Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of data center construction projects from planning and preconstruction through completion and turnover. This position coordinates subcontractors, vendors, engineers, field personnel, and clients while ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Manage data center construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and turnover.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and procurement schedules.
Coordinate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and commissioning teams.
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, contracts, and project documentation.
Monitor project costs, labor productivity, material costs, and overall financial performance.
Conduct and participate in project coordination meetings and provide regular project status updates.
Coordinate multiple construction trades, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, fire protection, structural, and low-voltage systems.
Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and scope of work to identify conflicts and potential project issues.
Track project milestones and ensure critical activities remain on schedule.
Coordinate procurement and delivery of long-lead equipment and materials.
Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work meets schedule, quality, safety, and contract requirements.
Work with commissioning personnel to coordinate testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover activities.
Assist with pre-functional testing, functional testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
Identify project risks and develop solutions to minimize impacts to cost and schedule.
Maintain accurate project records, reports, schedules, meeting minutes, and closeout documentation.
Ensure work complies with applicable OSHA requirements, electrical/mechanical codes, project specifications, and safety standards.
Support final inspections, punch list completion, commissioning, owner turnover, and project closeout.
Provide leadership and direction to Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams.

Required Qualifications

5–10+ years of construction project management experience.
Data center, mission-critical, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction experience preferred.
Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and multiple construction trades.
Strong understanding of construction schedules, budgets, contracts, and project controls.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Experience with project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Data Center Experience

Experience with mission-critical systems such as:

Medium- and high-voltage electrical distribution
Switchgear and transformers
Generators and emergency power
UPS systems
Battery energy storage systems
Busway and electrical distribution
HVAC and chilled-water systems
Building Management Systems (BMS)
Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
Fire protection systems
Controls and automation
Structured cabling and low-voltage systems
Data center commissioning and integrated systems testing
Phased turnover and owner acceptance

Key Performance Expectations

The successful Project Manager will be responsible for delivering projects with a strong focus on Safety + Quality + Schedule + Cost + Client Satisfaction, while maintaining effective communication between the field, office, subcontractors, and client.
