M.J.I. Tutoring Services is looking for an enthusiastic, kind, patient, and supportive educator to join my team!
M.J.I. Tutoring Services is a personalized tutoring company serving students throughout the Winter Garden, Windermere, Horizon West, and Dr. Phillips areas. As the owner and current sole tutor, I have a growing waitlist of families looking for individualized academic support. I am looking for a qualified educator who is passionate about helping students grow academically and confidently.
Compensation
$25–$40 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, grade level, and subject area.
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position.
About the Position
Tutors will work with students in PreK–8th grade in areas including:
- Reading
- Writing
- Math
- Homeschool support
- FAST Test preparation
Most academic tutoring sessions take place during late afternoon and evening hours, while homeschool support is primarily offered during daytime hours.
Candidates who are qualified and experienced in high school-level instruction may also have the opportunity to work with students in grades 9–12 as M.J.I. expands its services.
Sessions may take place:
- In the student's home
- At a local library
- Virtually/online
Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Education
- Hold a valid Florida teaching certification
- Be knowledgeable about effective, research-based instructional practices
- Be comfortable providing individualized instruction based on each student's needs
Preferred, but not required:
- ESE certification
- Experience with UFLI
- LETRS training/certification
- Orton-Gillingham training
- Experience with structured literacy or other evidence-based reading interventions
- Experience with FAST Test preparation
- Experience supporting homeschool students
- Position Details
- $25–$45 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Session lengths typically range from 30–60 minutes, depending on the student's age, grade level, and individual needs
- Tutors must be willing to travel to students' homes and/or local libraries within their assigned service area
- Service areas may include Dr. Phillips, Horizon West, Windermere, and Winter Garden, depending on the tutor's location
- Scheduling will be thoughtfully organized to minimize unnecessary driving time between sessions
- Tutors are expected to maintain a professional, dependable, and positive relationship with students and their families
- Tutors will meet with the owner biweekly, either in person or via Zoom, to discuss students, progress, goals, and instructional needs
