About RITA: Our Mission at RITA is to provide Ohio cities and villages with a high quality, cost
effective municipal tax collection service. We currently serve more than 400 cities and villages
across the State of Ohio, collecting and distributing more than $2.5B of municipal income tax
revenue annually, at an average cost in 2025 of just over one cent of every dollar collected.
These income tax dollars are crucial to the provision of the public safety, infrastructure and
recreational services that make these cities and villages great places to live, work and do

About the Role: Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform clerical duties
to support tax processing. Employees in this classification are responsible for: data entry, account
maintenance, documentation and record management, tax return assistance, basic editing, and
other routine clerical work primarily for the Taxation Department.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Note that while Individual accounts have a one-to-one relationship except where joint and split
accounts are concerned, business accounts have two separate and distinct types of taxes that
interrelate with each other: withholding taxes and net profit taxes. Employees in this position
must understand the different filing requirements, tax system account types and related
components and transactions, and distinct editing functions between individual or withholding
and net profit taxes to properly adjust account liabilities as required and provide quality
customer service. Employees in this position must keep abreast of individual or withholding
and net profit department processes related to each.
1. Performs basic office tasks including filing of a variety of information including forms
and correspondence, sending correspondence, retrieving documents from copiers/fax
machines and designated bins or trays.
2. Opens, sorts, logs, batches, and assigns incoming Department mail to create electronic
service requests.
3. Responsible for opening, logging and assigning accountable mail.
4. Knowledge in either individual or business tax related to clerk tasks.
5. Performs account maintenance and other updates in RITAX® for tax accounts, including,
but not limited to, administering return mail, correcting addresses and account statuses,
and adding account notes or comments.
6. Research tax payments and prepare payment forms/keys payments to taxpayer
accounts.
7. Prepares forms necessary to post payments to accounts for checks received within the
Department.
8. Retrieves and distributes Department voicemails.
9. Batches forms and documents that accumulate in department trays by type. Position is
responsible for forwarding batches to appropriate departments as well as ensuring that
checks with forms prepared by department personnel are delivered to Internal
Processing/data entry department in time for bank pick up.
10. Assists with basic low risk form processing when assigned; processing is limited to forms
that may require only basic correspondence to be sent to taxpayers and/or employers.
11. Keys miscellaneous payments and priority forms in batches as necessary.
12. Provides back up to keying returns for the data entry department as needed.
13. Provides back up to the mailroom as needed.
14. Prepares & logs DREG paperwork.
15. Prepares Form 1099G for the audit department.
16. Mails requested information to taxpayers.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: The individual assigned to this position must be able to complete all
physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, which include,

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time.
· Must be able to transport agency equipment to & from the office.
· Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a
calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
· Frequently communicates with taxpayers, members, etc. who have inquiries about their
accounts. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
About You: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to one (1) year previous
experience and/or training involving clerical support; or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience.
