Full Job Description

Medical Assistants - As a Medical Assistant at Rixis Dermatology, you'll play a pivotal role in patient care. You'll be involved in clinical duties such as taking patient histories in the electronic medical record, assisting with procedures, scribing, providing pre- and post-care instructions, and triaging clinical patient calls. Engaging with patients to ensure a comfortable and caring experience is a critical part of this role. Compassion, efficiency, and attention to detail are also key qualities for this role. Experience as a medical assistant in dermatology is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit
Entering medical history and visit information into our electronic health record (EHR) system
Escorting patients to exam rooms and ensuring they are prepared for the physician
Preparing patients for exams by providing them with necessary materials
Assisting physicians during medical examinations and procedures
Taking photographs for medical records
Scheduling medical procedures
Instructing patients on the correct usage of medications and phoning in prescriptions to pharmacies
Changing wound dressings, removing sutures
Collecting, logging, and packaging lab specimens for transport
Sterilizing medical instruments and managing medical supply inventory
Conducting phone triage and notifying patients of pathology and lab results
Scribing for office visits
Administering IM, SQ, and topical medications as ordered
Performing and documenting nurse visit appointments including suture removals, Patch Testing, and Biologic injections
Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
Experience in a medical office environment strongly preferred
Motivated to learn and assist with various tasks
Committed to delivering the highest level of patient care and customer service
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations
Strong team player
