Bellawood Farm is a one-of-a-kind hospitality destination situated on an 82-acre working cattle farm just outside Columbus, Ohio. The property includes a full-service steakhouse, wood-fired pizza operation, butcher shop and retail market, beer garden, event venue, bourbon and cocktail bar, and seasonal events designed to create memorable guest experiences.
We are seeking a highly motivated, hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support day-to-day operations across all guest-facing and operational departments. This leader will work closely with ownership, department managers, culinary leadership, and event teams to ensure operational excellence, outstanding guest service, strong team culture, and profitable business performance.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-concept environment and is equally comfortable leading front-of-house service, supporting and coordinating back-of-house operations, assisting in managing events, and driving team accountability.
Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for helping oversee all daily operations at Bellawood Farm, including:
- Steakhouse dining operations
- Wood-fired pizza operations
- Beer garden service and entertainment operations
- Retail market and butcher shop guest experience
- Private events and venue support
- Front-of-house and back-of-house coordination
- Staffing, training, scheduling, and operational execution
This role requires a hands-on leader who can shift seamlessly between hospitality leadership, operational management, guest engagement, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Front of House Leadership
- Lead daily service operations for the steakhouse, pizza kitchen service line, beer garden, brunch, and bar operations
- Ensure exceptional hospitality standards and guest satisfaction across all concepts
- Manage floor operations during peak service periods, including nights, weekends, brunches, holidays, and special events
- Support reservation flow, waitlist management, guest recovery, and service standards
- Monitor dining room cleanliness, atmosphere, music, lighting, and overall guest experience
- Work closely with event coordinators to execute weddings, private events, live music nights, and seasonal experiences
Back of House & Culinary Coordination
- Partner with Executive Chef and kitchen leadership to ensure efficient BOH operations
- Assist with food quality control, ticket times, prep execution, sanitation, and kitchen communication
- Support operational alignment between the steakhouse kitchen, wood-fired pizza operations, butcher shop, and event catering
- Ensure adherence to all food safety, health department, and sanitation standards
- Assist with inventory controls, ordering, waste reduction, and labor management
Retail, Butcher Shop & Guest Experience
- Support daily retail and market operations, ensuring exceptional guest interactions and merchandising standards
- Support sales initiatives involving retail meats, specialty products, promotions, and farm offerings
- Coordinate communication between restaurant, butcher shop, and retail staff to maintain a seamless guest experience
Beer Garden & Event Operations
- Support operation of the outdoor beer garden, including live music, seasonal programming, and community events
- Assist with event setup, staffing plans, vendor coordination, and execution of weddings, workshops, and public events
- Ensure high-quality guest experiences during large-scale events and high-volume weekends
- Help manage entertainment schedules, crowd flow, safety, and service standards during events
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor hourly team members and shift leaders
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, hospitality, and professionalism
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and ongoing training
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, and performance coaching
- Help create a positive and collaborative workplace culture
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting, labor targets, and financial performance goals
- Monitor daily sales, labor, and operational metrics
- Ensure compliance with company policies, liquor laws, and safety regulations
- Support opening and closing procedures across departments
- Help implement operational systems and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 3+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience required
- Multi-unit, high-volume, or multi-concept hospitality experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of both FOH and BOH restaurant operations
- Experience managing events, outdoor service spaces, or entertainment-driven venues preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead calmly and effectively in fast-paced environments
- Strong guest service mindset with attention to detail
- Experience with scheduling, labor management, POS systems, and inventory controls
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to move quickly during high-volume service periods
