If you're at least 16 years of age, are a sports enthusiast, and want to spend the warmer months working outdoors, apply to join our dynamic Parks Maintenance Team that keeps Grove City athletics running smoothly and our fields looking beautiful. The Sports and Field Maintenance Assistant, under the immediate supervision of a Department Supervisor or Crew Leader, is responsible for performing general manual labor and maintenance work at City owned parks and facilities. Primary duties include baseball and softball field prep, turf care, facility upkeep, game support and pickleball, tennis, and basketball court upkeep. The successful candidate will work to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks using hand tools and various types of motorized equipment, will work outdoors in all weather conditions, and meets the requirements outlined below. Must be at least 16 years of age.Must demonstrate reliable and predictable attendance.Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy.The City of Grove City is a Drug Free Workplace. All candidates who receive an offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for commonly used drugs, including marijuana.Available Positions: Sunday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Saturday - 40 hours per week Weekday hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pmWeekend hours: 6:00 am to 2:00 pm OR 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm; must be able to work AM or PM shift depending on the duration of a special event or tournament scheduleThis is a seasonal position scheduled 40 hours per week for up to 5.5 consecutive months.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Sports and Field Maintenance Assistant shall have the following duties under their direct supervisor: Baseball & Softball Field Support - Assist in preparing fields for games and practices by: Dragging and raking infieldsWatering infield dirt and turf as directedSetting up bases, pitching rubbers, and field equipmentLining fields with chalk or paint for foul lines and batter's boxesHelp maintain pitcher's mound and batter's boxes by adding clay and tamping as needed Synthetic turf field grooming/ maintenanceGeneral Grounds Maintenance: Mow and trim grass areas, including infields/outfields, foul territory, and park groundsRemove litter and debris from fields, dugouts, and spectator areasAssist with edging, mulching, and basic landscaping tasksReport any field damage, hazards, or maintenance needs to full-time employeesTrash removal and custodial tasks for park restrooms and pavilions/sheltersEquipment Use & Safety: Operate small power equipment (e.g., line chalkers, blowers, push mowers) safely and responsiblyClean and store tools and equipment after useFollow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gearMay drive a pick-up truck, van, golf cart, or riding mower in support of regular duties.Team Support & Flexibility: Work under the direction of full-time crew leader or supervisorsAssist during special events or tournaments with field setup and teardownPerform other general park maintenance tasks as neededGeneral: Supports Park Maintenance department by successfully executing daily job assignments.Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with the efficient delivery of City services (e.g., litter cleanup, mowing, edging, etc.); assists with maintenance and operation of City-owned equipment and vehicles; inspects equipment and tools prior to operation to ensure safety; maintains City tools and equipment as required; cleans City facilities.Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.Obeys and promptly executes all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
