Head of People, USA

Senior U.S. People leadership role/ Fulfilment operations/ High-growth environment

Location: Columbus, OH (onsite/ hybrid)

Compensation Package: up to $140,000 + benefits package

We’re looking for a senior People leader to help shape the future of our U.S business across a scaling operational footprint.

This high-impact role involves building a professional, commercially focused U.S. People function, collaborating closely with U.S. leadership and the Group People team. You will strengthen leadership, embed consistent people standards, improve employee relations, and drive a high-performance culture across our fulfillment centre operations.

You will bring pace, structure, judgment and instant credibility to our U.S People Function.

Following a merger at the end of 2025 with QLS Group we are building on our established presence in the UK, Europe and USA. Our USA operations are one of the most significant growth opportunities within the group and our search for our Head of People will be pivotal in helping the USA business build the people infrastructure needed for growth.

What you’ll be doing:

As the Senior People Lead for the USA, you will own the end to end People function. Your core focus will be to:

Partner with our U.S Leadership team to deliver commercial HR strategies
Lead organizational design, workforce planning and succession planning
Drive the integration of QLS behavioral standard across hiring, onboarding, performance management, and daily operations
Coach and challenge leaders to foster a high performance culture
Proactively identify and eliminate cultural blockers to improve operational pace, employee ownership and engagement
Manage complex, sensitive employee relations matters with high emotional intelligence
Ensure all people practices strictly adhere to federal employments laws and state-specific legislations
Create, scale and improve HR policies, templates and management toolkits
Partner with hiring managers and the central recruitment team to solve labor challenges, optimize agency usage and secure top talent.
Lead the local onboarding experience
Implement feedback mechanisms and communication channels that boost frontline morale while reinforcing accountability
Oversee core HR operations (payroll inputs, HRIS, benefits, FMLA)
Use data to track and report on attrition, absence, and ER trends, delivering actionable insights to the Senior Leadership team.

Your skills and experience

Significant HR experience, in a senior HR lead position
Experienced in supporting high-growth, operational, frontline or shift-based workforces, ideally within fulfillment, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or another fast-paced environment
You’re an expert in employee relations, including investigations, disciplinary, grievances, absence, performance improvement and terminations
Experience building or improving HR processes, policies, systems, management toolkits or people infrastructure in a growing or changing business.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law, including federal requirements and relevant state-level employment legislation.
Proven ability to coach, challenge and influence managers and senior leaders.
Experience using HR data to identify trends, inform decisions and drive practical action.
Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment where processes may need to be built, improved or professionalised.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with frontline employees, managers and senior leaders.
Commercially aware, pragmatic and able to balance employee experience with business performance and risk.
Legally authorised to work in the U.S.
