The CNC/Engineering Supervisor is accountable for supervising a high performing team responsible for accurate and successful plotting, programming, and fabrication of CNC stone jobs. The CNC/Engineering Supervisor position is a working supervisor position which means that he/she will also be programming jobs and looking for efficiencies and processes. The CNC/Engineering Supervisor staffs the team, making sure all positions are covered, and for leading the team to achieve its productivity goals. The CNC/Engineering Supervisor must respond quickly to changing workflow conditions and contribute positively to the facility’s key performance indicators. This person must be able to mentor and build a culture of safety among CNC Operators and programmers to achieve a safe working environment. The position helps to implement new processes and opportunities for product lines. If necessary, the Supervisor will step into a Team Member role to cover the position when someone is absent. The CNC/Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Team Members’ training and evaluates the Team Members’ performance. The CNC supervisor will act as liaison between the Engineering team and the template, sales, material handling, and shop teams. In this role it is expected and encouraged to work with the shop on the shop floor in training, troubleshooting, and updating the CNC Saws and Routers.
- Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitors production statistics and flow-through production so that it is available when needed
- Assist operators troubleshoot issues with CNC Equipment and contact manufacturers if necessary.
- Acts as liaison between the Engineering Department and the other DMG departments.
- Confers with other team’s members and departments periodically throughout the day to reallocate resources and address emergent issues.
- Monitors and maintains product quality, production costs and productivity (keeps labor costs on track; eliminates overtime; keeps productivity on target)
- Coaches; team-builds; motivate employees; develop team member’ analytical/critical thinking and problem-solving
- Evaluates root causes for errors and product damage; implements processes that reduce job issues
- Monitors Team Member performance; ensures Team Members are executing assigned tasks accurately and as scheduled
- Monitors staffing needs and adjusts work based on available resources and skill sets; Fills-in for missing Team Members when needed
- Ensures equipment functions properly; and works with the shop to schedule maintenance and repairs
- Ensures all Team Members comprehend and execute safe practices
- Evaluates and implement employee suggestions for safety improvements
- Enters day’s production statistics into appropriate database
- Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Discuss and resolve issues with Team Members or issues between Team Members
- Prepare Team Members for upward promotion if interested
- Direct resolution to equipment issues (for example, replace failed equipment or contact Maintenance)
- Identify and assist in implementing process improvements
- Respond to incidents or injuries
- Perform other duties as directed by the Production or General Manager

The Engineer/Programmer is an experienced incumbent who provides the Sales Department and CNC Machine Operators with accurate and detailed programming information to enable successful sale and fabrication of jobs.
CNC Plotters
The function of the CNC Plotter is to create accurate Mylar templates from specifications generated by Templaters.
CNC Operators
CNC Operators work in the production areas and run the CNC machines that cut, edge, and polish the job product.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among CNC Operators
- AutoCAD/CadCAM background
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience; successfully manages multiple tasks simultaneously in a stressful environment; can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information; manages by “walking around”
