The Line — Open Positions
The Line is a full-service restaurant at 145 N. Grant Ave in Columbus. We're hiring ahead of opening across the following roles:
***General Manager
Employment type: Full-time, salaried
The Line is looking for a General Manager to run day-to-day operations for a new full-service restaurant and bar. You'll work alongside an Assistant General Manager and Beverage Director and report directly to ownership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee front and back of house operations, staffing, and scheduling
- Manage budgets, labor costs, and vendor relationships
- Hire, train, and supervise management and staff
- Set and enforce service standards
- Handle guest issues and resolve service breakdowns
- Track sales, inventory, and P&L performance
- Coordinate with kitchen leadership on menu execution and consistency
- Coordinate with beverage director on bar and wine menu
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements
- Understand The Line's role as a training restaurant and hold the floor to that standard alongside normal service standards
- Oversee how program participants are integrated into shifts and give management-level feedback on their progress
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a GM or AGM in a full-service restaurant
- Working knowledge of POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory management
- Strong hiring, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience training or developing staff, ideally including entry-level or early-career workers
- Ohio food safety and alcohol service certifications, or ability to obtain within 30 days

***Sous Chef (2 openings)
Employment type: Full-time
The Line is hiring two Sous Chefs to support the Executive Chef in running the kitchen. You'll manage the line during service, train cooks, and help keep food quality consistent night to night.
Responsibilities
- Run kitchen stations and expedite during service
- Train and supervise line cooks
- Maintain recipe standards, portioning, and plating consistency
- Manage prep lists and inventory with the Executive Chef
- Enforce sanitation and food safety standards
- Step in for the Executive Chef when needed
- Train program participants on station technique and bring them up to line-ready standard
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a full-service kitchen
- Comfortable running a station under volume
- Strong technical skills and the ability to break them down and teach them clearly
- ServSafe certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays

***Line Cook (4 openings)
Employment type: Full-time and part-time available
The Line is hiring four Line Cooks to join the opening kitchen team.
Responsibilities
- Prep and cook menu items to spec
- Work stations as assigned (sauté, grill, garde manger, fry)
- Maintain a clean, organized station during and after service
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Communicate with the pass and other stations during service
- Work alongside program participants on station and show them the technique, not just the task
Qualifications
- 1+ years of kitchen experience in a professional setting
- Knife skills and comfort working at speed during service
- Willingness to walk a newer cook through your station step by step
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Food handler certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days

***Server (4–6 openings)
Employment type: Full-time and part-time available
The Line is hiring Servers for our dining room team.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and guide them through food and drink menus
- Take and enter orders accurately
- Deliver food and drinks and check in during the meal
- Handle payment and closing out checks
- Reset and maintain tables and section cleanliness
- Work with kitchen and bar staff to keep service moving
- Shadow with and coach program participants on section, from menu knowledge to guest interaction
Qualifications
- Prior serving experience preferred, not required
- Comfortable in a fast-paced dining room
- Strong communication and guest-service skills
- Patience and clarity explaining service steps to someone learning them
- Ohio alcohol service certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays

***Bar Staff — Bartender / Barback (2–3 openings)
Employment type: Full-time and part-time available
The Line is hiring bartenders and barbacks to support our Beverage Director and bar program.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cocktails, beer, and wine service to recipe
- Take and process orders at the bar and for the floor
- Maintain bar stock, garnishes, and cleanliness
- Check IDs and follow responsible alcohol service practices
- Support setup and breakdown of the bar each shift
- Restock and run product for bartenders (barback role)
- Train program participants on drink builds, bar setup, and service flow
Qualifications
- Prior bar experience preferred for bartender role; barback role open to entry-level candidates
- Working knowledge of classic cocktails and basic wine/beer service
- Comfortable teaching technique to someone new to the bar
- Ohio alcohol service certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
