Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Senior Controls Design Engineer specializing in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to join our dynamic engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, development, and troubleshooting of industrial control systems, focusing on automation solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency and safety. Your expertise will drive innovation in robotics integration, industrial electrical systems, and control system architecture, ensuring seamless operation of complex machinery and robotic systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence cutting-edge projects within a fast-paced industrial environment, where your technical leadership and problem-solving skills will make a tangible impact.

Responsibilities

Design and develop PLC control systems utilizing ladder logic (LD), functional block diagrams, and other programming languages to meet project specifications.
Program, install, troubleshoot, and repair PLC systems across various platforms including Fanuc robotics and distributed control systems.
Configure human-machine interface (HMI) systems for intuitive operator interaction and real-time process monitoring.
Integrate industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus, or Modbus to ensure reliable communication between control devices and equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings using AutoCAD or SolidWorks to support system installation and maintenance.
Conduct root cause analysis of industrial equipment failures through systematic troubleshooting techniques.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to understand tooling, machining processes, and mechanical interfaces essential for control system integration.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize automation processes, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Support robotics engineering initiatives by programming robot controllers such as Fanuc robotic systems and performing robot programming for manufacturing automation.
Perform system validation through vision inspection systems and other quality assurance tools to ensure product standards are met.

Experience

Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on controls design and automation solutions.
Extensive hands-on knowledge of PLC programming languages including ladder logic (LD), function block diagram (FBD), and structured text (ST).
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot PLC systems installation issues, perform repairs, and conduct comprehensive system diagnostics.
Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, schematic reading, blueprint interpretation, and electrical schematic troubleshooting.
Practical experience working with Fanuc robotics or other industrial robotic systems is highly desirable.
Strong background in industrial controls engineering with exposure to industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP or Profibus.
Knowledge of CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) standards applicable in regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.
Skilled in AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing schematics or mechanical components related to control systems.
Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently while maintaining safety standards within manufacturing settings.
