Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Field Network Technician and become the backbone of our telecommunications and networking infrastructure. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of communication systems, including fiber optic networks, Ethernet, CCTV, VoIP, and radio frequency (RF) systems. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance across diverse client sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technology while delivering exceptional customer service in the field. Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems, structured cabling (Cat5, Cat6), and low-voltage electrical wiring to ensure robust network connectivity.
Perform fiber splicing and cable termination to establish high-quality optical and electrical connections.
Conduct site surveys using diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to assess system performance and identify issues.
Maintain and repair telecommunications equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, and other networking hardware.
Execute network wiring tasks including Ethernet cabling, cable management, and structured cabling installation following schematics and NEC standards.
Test radio frequency (RF) signals and perform telecommunication system testing to verify proper operation of wireless and wired networks.
Assist in the installation of communication systems like CCTV surveillance cameras, VoIP phones, and data center infrastructure while adhering to safety protocols.
Use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot electrical systems (AC/DC) and ensure optimal equipment functionality.
Collaborate with clients to deliver excellent customer service by explaining technical issues clearly and providing timely solutions.
Document all work performed through detailed reports, logs, and diagrams for future reference and compliance.

Skills

Extensive knowledge of fiber optic systems installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance.
Proficiency in computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, Ethernet protocols, Cisco routers/switches, Juniper devices, and network wiring standards.
Experience with telecommunication systems such as VoIP platforms (e.g., Avaya), telephony setup, and structured cabling (Cat5/Cat6).
Strong understanding of schematics interpretation for cabling layouts and system configurations.
Ability to operate diagnostic tools like Ohmmeters, network analyzers, RF testers, and telecommunication testing equipment effectively.
Electrical experience with low-voltage wiring installation (NEC compliant), electrical troubleshooting skills for AC/DC systems.
Familiarity with computer hardware setup/repair in data centers or server rooms is a plus.
Service technician experience in telecommunications or IT environments demonstrating problem-solving skills under pressure.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients at all levels.
Physical capability to perform field service tasks including climbing ladders or working in confined spaces using power tools or hand tools safely.
