Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our accounting processes. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to oversee a comprehensive range of accounting functions, from financial statement preparation to regulatory reporting, while mentoring a talented team of accounting professionals. As an integral part of our organization, you will drive financial excellence and uphold the highest standards of compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other relevant regulations. Duties

Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards.
Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain precise financial records.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, collections, and vendor relations.
Ensure compliance with SOX controls, securities law, and other regulatory requirements through diligent monitoring and internal audits.
Conduct cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing to support strategic decision-making.
Supervise month-end and year-end closing activities, including bank reconciliations and audit preparations.
Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, and complex financial concepts like SEC reporting.
Implement and optimize accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or other financial software to improve efficiency.
Handle sensitive confidential information with integrity while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
Support tax-related activities including tax filings, Wills, trusts & estate law considerations when applicable.

Experience

Proven experience in accounting management within diverse sectors such as public accounting, non-profit organizations, or governmental agencies.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting standards, SOX compliance, and international accounting principles.
Strong background in corporate finance, financial analysis, budgeting, accrual accounting, and financial management experience.
Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas including securities law, regulatory reporting, double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries.
Proficiency with financial software such as Sage or Xero along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications—particularly spreadsheets for data analysis.
Hands-on experience with auditing processes, internal controls implementation (SOX), account reconciliation techniques, and cash flow analysis.
Ability to mentor teams effectively while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
Excellent understanding of compliance requirements related to accounts payable/receivable management and regulatory standards across various jurisdictions.
