Job Posting Information

Lincoln City Libraries currently has a part-time (30 hours per week) Library Service Associate position available primarily assigned to the unit of Walt Branch Library (6701 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512). This position is eligible for insurance benefits, Holiday Pay, and will accrue Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is eligible for the retirement plan after completing six months of employment.

Library Service Associates are front-line staff, providing excellent direct customer service to the public. Tasks include assisting with the checkout of materials, issuing library cards, providing technology assistance, recommending materials to customers, promoting library programs and online resources, assisting with the access and use of library resources, and processing payments on customer accounts. They may also be involved in presenting library programs and assisting at off-site Outreach events.

Scheduled work hours will be assigned and could be during any of the following times: 8 AM-8:05 PM Monday through Thursday, 8 AM-6:05 PM Friday and Saturday, and 11:05 AM-8:05 PM Sunday. While all positions are assigned to a primary branch or service unit, staff may be assigned to work at any branch location. Hours may be assigned at multiple branches in a single work day.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a high school and six months of experience in providing customer service to the public; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Pay increases are available upon completion of the 6-month new employee probationary period, and annually thereafter based on performance. (Note: part-time employees are eligible for pay increases.)

We encourage a healthy work-life balance by offering 11 days of vacation leave and 12 days of sick leave annually that you begin accruing upon hire; plus 11 paid holidays and 2 personal convenience days. (Note: paid time off for part-time employees is accrued/paid on a prorated basis.)

All medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family begin the first of the month following hire, no need to wait! (Note: employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for insurance benefits.)
