Job Title: OSP Construction Superintendent

Salary: $90,000 to $110,000+ (potential flexibility up, based on experience)
Location: Office is in Balch Springs
Travel: Work will typically be in the DFW area, however there may be some travel outside of the great metroplex.
Job Summary
Oversees multiple outside plant (OSP) crews and active job sites simultaneously, while managing field documentation, production reporting, billing support, and response coordination as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Collaborates with operations leadership on project planning, bid support, urgent field issues, workforce matters, and required documentation.
· Serves as a primary point of contact for customers regarding project status, scheduling, and field activity.
· Evaluates work sites to identify project requirements, resource needs, and the equipment necessary to complete OSP construction activities safely and efficiently.
· Coordinates utility locates and works with applicable stakeholders to verify marked facilities prior to excavation or field work.
· Leads field crews in the safe and efficient execution of OSP construction, restoration, and related site activities.
· Ensures field equipment is used properly, supports operator readiness, and provides guidance on equipment use when required.
· Promotes compliance with safety practices, project procedures, and applicable work standards across all job sites.
· Reviews project scope, drawings, and field requirements to help ensure work is completed according to expectations.
· Communicates daily work plans, assigns responsibilities, and monitors crew performance in the field.
· Coordinates materials, tools, and equipment needs to support uninterrupted field operations.
· Supports traffic control planning and field execution in accordance with applicable roadway and work zone requirements.
· Verifies that assigned vehicles, equipment, and job site resources are inspected and ready for daily use.
· Identifies opportunities to improve productivity, work quality, and overall field execution.
· Recommends process, workflow, or equipment adjustments that help crews work more efficiently and safely.
· Addresses field issues proactively and supports crews in resolving operational challenges as they arise.
· Encourages accountability, teamwork, and consistent performance to help crews meet project goals.
· Maintains accurate time, production, and field activity records in support of project reporting.
· Supports routine equipment checks and coordinates maintenance needs to help keep field operations running smoothly.
· Provides field support to crew leaders and team members as needed to maintain project progress and continuity.
· Participates in emergency or after-hours response activities when operational needs require additional support.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day oversight of field crews, with a strong emphasis on safety, productivity, quality, and compliance in public and active work areas.

- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced field environment.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus. Several years of experience in outside plant construction, utility field operations, or related infrastructure work, including prior leadership or supervisory experience, preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with field personnel, customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to perform basic job-related calculations involving measurements, quantities, production tracking, and material estimates.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to assess field conditions, identify potential issues, make sound decisions, and respond appropriately in dynamic work environments.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and other software used for reporting, scheduling, documentation, and communication.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license required. Relevant field safety certifications, equipment training, traffic control training, first aid/CPR, or similar job-related credentials may be required or preferred based on project needs.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lead field teams, manage shifting priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and support safe, customer-focused project execution.
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to travel to assigned job sites, work flexible hours when needed, and perform effectively in a field-based environment.

- This role may require standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and working outdoors for extended periods.
