About us

Coldwater Cafe is a fine dine restaurant in the center of historic downtown Tipp City. We make everything in house from bread to salad dressings to desserts. We offer lots of benefits and treat our employees very well. You'll love working here.

We’re looking for a talented, organized, and passionate Head Baker & Pastry Chef to lead our bakery and pastry production for both our award-winning fine dining restaurant and our busy specialty market. This is a hands-on leadership position in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where quality, consistency, and efficiency are essential.

Responsibilities

Prepare artisan breads from scratch, including focaccia, croissants, Kaiser rolls, dinner rolls, and seasonal breads.
Produce high-quality desserts including cakes, pies, tarts, cheesecakes, brownies, cookies, crème brûlée, bread pudding, ice cream, and other seasonal specialties.
Plan and execute daily production for both the restaurant and market while meeting deadlines.
Maintain exceptional consistency in flavor, appearance, and presentation.
Develop new seasonal desserts, pastries, and baked goods.
Ensure products are fresh, properly labeled, and rotated according to food safety standards.
Maintain inventory of bakery ingredients and communicate ordering needs.
Minimize waste through efficient production and proper inventory management.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bakery at all times.
Follow standardized recipes while contributing creative ideas for menu development.
Train and mentor bakery staff to maintain the highest standards.
Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop new menu offerings and holiday features.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of professional baking and pastry experience (leadership experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of bread fermentation, laminated doughs, pastry techniques, cakes, custards, frozen desserts, and plated desserts.
Ability to produce large quantities without sacrificing quality.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
Ability to prioritize production under tight deadlines.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Knife skills and general kitchen knowledge.
Food safety knowledge; ServSafe Certification is a plus.
Weekend and holiday availability required.
