Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Plastic Extrusion Specialist to lead our extrusion operations and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. In this role, you will oversee the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of extrusion machinery, ensuring high-quality production of plastic profiles and components. Your expertise in process engineering, equipment maintenance, and technical design will be vital to optimizing efficiency, reducing waste, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment dedicated to innovation and excellence.

Duties

Lead the setup, calibration, and operation of plastic extrusion equipment, including extruders, die heads, and ancillary machinery.
Conduct root cause analysis on production issues to identify underlying problems and implement effective corrective actions.
Develop and modify technical drawings and schematics using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar tools for tooling and process improvements.
Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CNC machines, robot systems, and other industrial automation equipment to optimize production workflows.
Perform machining, CNC programming, fabrication, welding, and assembly tasks to support tooling development and maintenance activities.
Analyze data related to process performance using data analysis skills to identify trends, opportunities for lean manufacturing practices, and quality enhancements.
Collaborate across departments on project scheduling, process improvement initiatives, equipment troubleshooting, and factory floor optimization.
Maintain detailed records of technical procedures, schematics, maintenance logs, and quality documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations involving electrical wiring, mechanical systems, hand tools, or fabrication activities.

Qualifications

Proven experience in plastics extrusion processes within a manufacturing or factory environment; familiarity with plastics injection molding is a plus.
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining, welding, fabrication, tooling development, and equipment troubleshooting.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Creo for designing tooling or process layouts; experience with CAM programming is advantageous.
Skilled in interpreting technical drawings including schematics and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Knowledge of PLC programming, CNC programming (including setup and troubleshooting), robot programming, and industrial automation systems.
Familiarity with process engineering principles like continuous improvement methodologies (Lean manufacturing), data analysis techniques, and process optimization strategies.
Ability to perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, precision measuring instruments; understanding of ISO 9001 quality standards.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate with engineering teams, production staff, maintenance personnel,and suppliers.
Strong math skills for analyzing data trends; experience interpreting technical drawings and schematics for assembly line setups or tooling fabrication.
Mandatory experience and bilingual English and Spanish.
Plastic extrusion experience is Mandatory.
