Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Data Center Construction Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a major mission-critical data center project in Covington, Georgia.
In this role, you will serve as the Owner’s Representative, providing leadership and oversight throughout the entire project lifecycle - from pre-construction and planning through construction, commissioning, turnover, and final closeout.
This is a highly visible, hands-on position for a construction professional who understands the complexity of mission-critical environments and can effectively lead contractors, consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will help ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the highest standards for quality, reliability, and operational readiness.
The position requires full-time, on-site presence in Covington, GA and frequent interaction with the client, contractors, design teams, commissioning professionals, and other project stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Construction Management:
- Serve as the Owner’s Representative, providing leadership and oversight from pre-construction through construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
- Manage day-to-day project execution, coordinating general contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, commissioning agents, vendors, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor contractor performance, construction progress, productivity, quality, safety, and compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear communication regarding schedule, budget, risks, issues, decisions, and overall project status.
- Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, claims, field reports, and other project documentation.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect schedule, budget, quality, and client objectives.
- Evaluate contractor claims and provide recommendations to the client regarding project impacts and appropriate resolutions.
MEP, Electrical & Mission-Critical Systems:
- Provide oversight of the installation, coordination, testing, and integration of critical MEP and electrical infrastructure.
- Ensure proper execution of systems including medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, cooling and HVAC systems, BMS, fire protection, life safety, structured cabling, and other low-voltage systems.
- Verify that systems and construction activities meet project specifications, redundancy and resiliency requirements, applicable codes, and operational readiness objectives.
- Coordinate closely with contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and the client to resolve technical issues and maintain construction progress.
Commissioning, Quality & Turnover:
- Lead and coordinate commissioning activities and support successful completion of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), systems testing, deficiency resolution, and final turnover.
- Review commissioning plans, testing procedures, inspection reports, deficiency logs, and closeout documentation.
- Monitor quality assurance and quality control activities and verify that deficiencies are identified, documented, and resolved.
- Ensure project documentation, testing results, warranties, as-builts, and other turnover requirements are completed prior to final closeout.
Schedule, Cost, Safety & Client Reporting:
- Develop, review, and maintain project schedules, milestones, and critical path activities.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, contingencies, cost controls, and financial performance; evaluate the impacts of changes, delays, and unforeseen conditions.
- Prepare regular client and executive-level reporting covering schedule, budget, risks, issues, progress, and mitigation strategies.
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, proposal development, and change management activities.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, client, site-specific, and Bureau Veritas safety requirements.
- Conduct site observations and work proactively with contractors and project teams to address safety, quality, schedule, and construction issues.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- 10+ years of construction project management experience.
- 5+ years of direct experience managing data center or mission-critical construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale electrical and MEP systems in data center or other mission-critical environments.
- Experience managing construction projects with values exceeding $25 million.
- Proven ability to successfully manage projects from pre-construction through commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including electrical distribution, backup power, cooling systems, resiliency, redundancy, and operational requirements.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of mission-critical construction practices and project delivery methodologies.
- Expertise in construction scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change management, and risk management.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with project management and web-based construction management platforms.
- Strong understanding of MEP coordination and construction sequencing.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
- Commissioning or mission-critical systems experience.
- Previous experience serving as an Owner’s Representative, Program Manager, or Construction Manager.
- Experience with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or cloud-based data center projects.
- Experience managing highly complex electrical infrastructure and critical power systems.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Covington, Georgia.
- Ability to access active construction sites and perform site inspections as required.
- Ability to work in an active construction environment and comply with applicable site safety requirements.

Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary: $115,000++
Actual base compensation will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
