We specialize in custom metal fabrication and have a long history of providing innovative solutions to our clients across various industries.

Position Overview:
Zimmerman Metals Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Professional to lead and manage our safety programs. The Safety Professional will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and developing strategies to minimize risk and prevent workplace injuries. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, including new hire orientations, refresher courses, and specific training as needed.
Identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
Ensure the company complies with all relevant safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and first aid readiness.
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, and audits, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
Work closely with Human Resources, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in manufacturing or metal fabrication.
CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), or similar certifications preferred.
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.

Working Conditions:

Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to various hazards, including noise, moving machinery, and chemicals.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
May require occasional travel to local job sites.
