Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach and exceptional organizational skills will help streamline clinic operations, facilitate accurate documentation, and uphold the highest standards of patient service. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and a passion for delivering outstanding healthcare administrative support.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Schedule appointments using clinic management software
Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) including documentation review, medical records management, and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Assist with medical coding tasks such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to support billing processes.
Answer multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette, triaging calls efficiently to appropriate staff members.
Prepare and organize clinic documents, files, and reports while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support clinical staff by assisting with medical administrative tasks like filing and data entry.
Utilize Microsoft Office tools for correspondence, scheduling updates, and record keeping to ensure seamless office operations.
Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while adhering to office policies on confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA compliance, and health information management.
Proficiency in medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and documentation review processes.
Excellent computer skills including typing (10 key typing), Microsoft Office applications, and electronic health records management.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person.
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, record keeping, and appointment scheduling.
Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies along with medical terminology is essential.
Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support is highly desirable.
