Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Spanish In-Person Interpreter and become a vital bridge in cross-cultural communication within healthcare, social services, and community settings. In this role, you will facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive interpretation between Spanish-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals. Your expertise will ensure that language barriers do not hinder access to essential services, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct. Responsibilities

Provide in-person interpretation for Spanish-speaking clients across medical, social work, child protective services, and community programs
Accurately translate medical terminology and clinical information while maintaining cultural competency standards
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient privacy during all interactions
Support cross-cultural communication by applying cultural competency principles and clinical ethical guidelines
Review medical records and documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy during interpretation sessions
Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to facilitate effective communication in high-stakes environments
Maintain detailed records of interpretation sessions, including documentation review and service logs

Requirements

Fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent verbal communication skills in both languages
Proven experience in medical interpretation or medical translation services, including translating complex medical terminology
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, clinical confidentiality policies, and ethical guidelines for healthcare interpretation
Ability to perform over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) as needed for remote support
Knowledge of American Sign Language is a plus but not required; focus on multilingual capabilities
Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
Experience working in hospital settings or with social work agencies is highly desirable
Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency standards and cross-cultural communication techniques
