Full Job Description

Since 1996, C2 Essentials has helped small businesses grow by providing HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance support. We work with companies across the country and are committed to delivering reliable service and practical solutions to our clients.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for multiple client companies across various states and pay frequencies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, client-focused, and enjoys improving processes through automation and technology.

Key Responsibilities

Process multiple client payrolls daily with accuracy and timeliness
Review payroll data, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and payroll adjustments
Audit payroll reports and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing
Respond to client and employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Maintain employee payroll records and process payroll-related changes
Ensure payroll processes comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a high-volume environment
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, reporting, and AI tools

Required Qualifications

5+ years of payroll processing experience
Experience processing payroll for multiple companies or multiple payroll cycles
Experience with multi-state payroll processing
Strong knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour requirements, and payroll deductions
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Strong client service and communication skills
Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with workflow automation, reporting tools, and process improvement
Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies
CPP certification is a plus
