Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are a North American Leader in the Fabrication industry with operations in Canada, and the USA. We are a fully integrated supplier of manufacturing and engineering services providing steel components and complex, high value-added assemblies for the agricultural, construction, mining, energy, heavy truck and other industrial sectors.

The Launch Manager will apply technical knowledge and expertise in the development and/or implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment; and will ensure that the design specifications and procurement of equipment, tooling, fixtures, etc. meet company requirements and objectives.

The Launch Manager will report to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead all aspects of new product / engineering change launches from customer award through successful production implementation and program closure in collaboration with the Engineering department.
Develop and maintain detailed launch plans, project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
Serve as the single point of contact for customers throughout the launch process, providing regular status updates and expectations.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Materials, Planning, and Maintenance.
Drive accountability for launch timing, quality, cost, and requirements across all functional areas.
Manage multiple simultaneous project launches across several customers while balancing priorities and mitigating project risks.
Collaborate with Engineering on process improvements for existing product to maximize profit, throughput, and efficiency.
Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and documentation are completed prior to launch from the Engineering team.
Coordinate manufacturing readiness reviews and verify completion of all production requirements.
Investigate manufacturing issues and non-conformances, using root cause analysis, data analysis, and corrective actions to resolve problems.
Verify labor planning, capacity analysis, capability studies, production trails, and run at rate activities are planned and completed on schedule.
Coordinate pilot builds, prototype builds, pre-production events, and customer approvals.
Capture and communicate lessons learned from each launch to improve future program execution.
Collaborate with Engineering to identify opportunities to reduce launch costs, improve efficiency, and improve facility metrics.
Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Retains strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the fabrication field.
Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g. Process - Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g.).
Understanding of the concepts of synchronous manufacturing and lean production manufacturing methodologies and the ability to formulate and implement a tactical plan.
Monitor machine/employee ergonomic improvements & safety requirements.
Research and evaluate equipment or process improvements, obtain vendor quotations, and prepare capital expenditure justifications including return on investment (ROI) analysis.
Follows safe work procedures; and reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following the event.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); and workplace tools and equipment as instructed.
Comply with duties and responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensure corrective action is taken when violations occur.
Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals in support of business objectives.
Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations. Characteristics
