The Opportunity

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach is seeking Lab Supervisor & Teaching Assistant who will support the Department's experiential learning activities including laboratory courses, student projects, and research projects.

Key responsibilities:

Oversight of laboratory spaces including safety, OSHA compliance, lab policies, and general maintenance.
Instructional assistance in machine shop and materials labs including sheet metal, milling, turning, welding, measurements, and materials testing.
Supervision and training of student employees including selection, training, and daily oversight.
General departmental support of activities and events.

This is a 40 hour/week in-person position located at the Daytona Beach, Florida Campus and is not remote or hybrid. Hours may be non-traditional to support laboratory activities and may include evenings and occasional weekends. Exact work schedules will be determined in concert with supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, relevant certifications such as A&P, and/or experience in relevant work.
Experience with manufacturing techniques including welding, CNC machining, sheet metal, and hand fabrication techniques.
Skills with CAD and CAM software such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
A desire to work with and teach undergraduate students.
Experience with OSHA and other relevant health and safety regulations.
