Area Director of Operations – Hotels | El Paso, TX

Location: El Paso, TX (Multi-Property)

Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Reports To: VP of Operations / Regional Vice President

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Director of Operations to oversee hotel operations across multiple properties in the El Paso market. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, guest satisfaction, and team development across all assigned properties. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in multi-unit hotel management and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Performance

Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day operational guidance across all El Paso-area properties

Monitor and drive KPIs including RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, GOP, and guest satisfaction scores (GSS/NPS)

Conduct regular property visits and operational audits to ensure brand standards and compliance

Partner with General Managers to develop and execute property-level action plans

Financial Management

Oversee budget development, forecasting, and P&L accountability for all area properties

Identify opportunities to maximize revenue and control costs without compromising guest experience

Analyze monthly financial reports and present results to ownership and senior leadership

People Leadership

Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing General Managers and department heads

Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement

Lead succession planning and talent development initiatives across the area

Guest Experience

Champion a culture of service excellence and consistently high guest satisfaction

Respond to escalated guest concerns and drive corrective action where needed

Ensure consistent delivery of brand standards across all properties

Owner & Stakeholder Relations

Serve as a key point of contact for hotel owners and asset managers in the region

Prepare and present performance reports, capital project updates, and strategic recommendations

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred

Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of progressive hotel operations experience, with at least 3 years in a multi-property or area leadership role

Brand Knowledge: Experience with major flags (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, or similar) strongly preferred

Financial Acumen: Demonstrated experience managing budgets and P&L in a multi-unit environment

Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus given the El Paso market

Travel: Ability to travel regularly between properties within the El Paso area and occasionally to regional meetings
