Job Overview

Hello there! I am looking for a knowledgeable dog bather/assistant that is kind, gentle and wants to learn. I am a one on one dog groomer in Elburn, IL. I have a full functioning grooming salon in the basement of my home. I cater to the individual needs of the dogs, a lot of them have anxiety issues and don’t do well in the typical grooming salon. I am looking for someone who can bathe, clip and dremmel nails, shave paw pads, blow out, and brush dogs. Ensuring they receive gentle handling and best-quality care and patience is the top concern. Your attention to detail, love for animals, and excellent customer service skills will create a positive experience for both pets and their owners. This paid position offers a fulfilling opportunity to work in a one on one environment dedicated to animal well-being and pet happiness.

Responsibilities

Safely handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments during bathing, grooming, and drying processes
Perform pet grooming tasks including bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping with precision and care
Assist with pet care routines such as ear cleaning, and coat maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of grooming stations and ensure all tools are sanitized after each use
Communicate clearly with pet owners about grooming needs, special instructions, and pet behavior

Experience

Able to read a dogs body language is a must
Prior dog handling or pet grooming experience is preferred but not mandatory
Being willing or be able to ” think out of the box” for animal restraint techniques to ensure safe grooming sessions
Knowledge of pet care routines including pet sitting or kennel experience adds value
Strong customer service skills to engage positively with pet owners and address their questions confidently
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for equipment or large animals
A genuine love for animals combined with patience, confidence in reading animal body language, and handling skills ensures success in this role

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
