Business Development Manager – Southwest Region (Phoenix)Position Summary
United Services Group (USG) is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead growth efforts throughout the Southwest region, with an initial focus on the Phoenix market.
This role will be responsible for developing new customer relationships, expanding existing accounts, identifying strategic market opportunities, and helping establish United as a premier provider of specialty welding, fabrication, machining, and field services within the advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, data center, power generation, and industrial process markets.
The ideal candidate is a highly connected relationship builder with experience selling industrial construction, specialty contracting, mechanical services, fabrication, welding, or related technical services. This individual will play a key role in establishing United's long-term presence in the Southwest.
Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Development & Growth
· Develop and execute a business development strategy for the Southwest region.
· Establish United's presence within the Phoenix industrial, semiconductor, data center, and manufacturing markets.
· Identify and pursue new customer relationships and project opportunities.
· Build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities aligned with United's strategic growth objectives.
· Maintain an active target account list and growth plan for priority customers.
Business Development & Sales
· Generate new business opportunities across:
o Advanced Manufacturing
o Semiconductor
o Data Centers
o Power Generation
o Industrial Process & Manufacturing
· Develop relationships with:
o EPC firms
o General Contractors
o Mechanical Contractors
o Facility Operators
o Engineering Firms
· Lead customer meetings, site visits, presentations, and proposal discussions.
· Support proposal development and customer pursuit strategies.
· Manage opportunities through the sales cycle from lead generation through award.
Account Management & Expansion
· Maintain executive-level relationships with existing customers.
· Support account growth strategies focused on increasing wallet share within existing customers.
· Coordinate closely with Operations to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project execution.
· Identify opportunities to expand services and capabilities within existing accounts.
Strategic Market Intelligence
· Monitor market activity, capital projects, competitive dynamics, and customer investment plans.
· Provide market intelligence to leadership regarding emerging opportunities and industry trends.
· Identify target projects and strategic customers before procurement activity begins.
· Assist in evaluating new market segments and growth opportunities.
Industry Networking & Visibility
· Represent United at industry conferences, trade associations, customer events, and networking functions.
· Develop relationships with key market influencers and decision makers.
· Help establish United's brand presence throughout the Southwest region.
· Identify sponsorship, speaking, and industry engagement opportunities.
Collaboration with Operations & Estimating
· Partner closely with Operations and Estimating teams to develop customer solutions and execution strategies.
· Participate in bid reviews and pursuit planning discussions.
· Ensure customer requirements and project expectations are effectively communicated internally.
· Support project startup and customer transition following project award.
CRM & Pipeline Management
· Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and activity data within HubSpot CRM.
· Develop and manage opportunity forecasts and sales pipeline reporting.
· Track customer engagement activities and business development metrics.
· Provide regular updates on pipeline health, market activity, and forecasted opportunities.

Qualifications
· 7+ years of business development, sales, account management, or commercial leadership experience.
· Experience within industrial construction, specialty contracting, fabrication, welding, mechanical construction, energy, manufacturing, or related industries.
· Strong network within the Southwest target markets preferred (must reside in PHX area)
· Proven ability to develop new business relationships and generate revenue growth.
· Strong understanding of project-based selling environments.
· Experience working with EPCs, GCs, and industrial customers.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Experience
· Strong preference will be given to candidates with existing relationships and demonstrated experience working with organizations in the advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, data center, and industrial spaces.
