Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) care to join our dynamic healthcare team for night shifts. This position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment, supporting diverse patient populations with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set, including critical care experience, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and expertise in various medical procedures. This role is perfect for nurses committed to excellence, adaptability, and making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in the Med/Surg unit during night shifts, ensuring safety and comfort.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining aseptic techniques.
Monitor patients' conditions continuously using telemetry and respond promptly to changes in vital signs or symptoms.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices.
Document all patient interactions, procedures, and clinical observations accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Assist with diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection, wound suturing, and other specialized procedures as required.
Manage acute pain, perform IV insertions, catheterizations, and provide post-operative or post-acute care.
Support discharge planning by educating patients on medication management, follow-up care, and health coaching.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.

Requirements

Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
Minimum of two years of recent hospital Med/Surg experience; ICU or trauma center experience is highly desirable.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10).
Demonstrated critical care skills including airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal or behavioral health settings.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, pharmacology, and aseptic techniques.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing clinical situations while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
