Position Summary: This position will support the coordination of a micro safe sleep site utilized by HIVA clients. The Coordinator will provide support and assistance to clients experiencing homelessness who reside at the site. This position will serve as the primary staff presence at the site and coordinate with other HIVA staff to maintain operations, address concerns and coordinate services. This position will spend most of the work week at the site, working from a variety of non-traditional settings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide staff presence at the site. Assist clients, and ensure adherence to the code of conduct, community agreements, and all rules and policies.
- Assist with enforcement of the code of conduct, rules, and policies
- Respond to residents’ concerns and questions
- Respond to facilities issues
- Respond to and process incident reports
- Intervene in and mediate interpersonal conflict
- Work a regular schedule, on site, of Wednesday through Sunday. Occasionally other hours may be necessary, with as much advance notice as possible.
- Organize, assign and supervise completion of site chore responsibilities
- Maintain inventory of basic supplies, purchase or pick up donated supplies
- Maintain and route communication to staff and manager referring clients to the site
- Complete required administrative tasks as assigned including:
- Client level data
- Site level data
- Incident reports
- Resident notices
- Communicate with residents clearly and respectfully
- Conduct regular unit inspections
- Compete minor and routine site and unit maintenance and repair
- Respond to emergencies
- Ensure regular and timely communication with other HIVA staff
- Work with manager to seek out opportunities for partnership and networking with organizations
- Coordinate and supervise on site volunteers
- Support and champion the development and implementation of equity goals
- Solicit client feedback on a regular basis and use that feedback in ongoing program development and evaluation
- Attend equity focused and culturally responsive training
- Ensure that policies and procedures and consistently applied
- Ability to work well with others, handle stress appropriately, have reliable attendance
- Ability to use personal cell phone to run agency phone system software, MFA, etc.
- Other tasks as assigned, including training/cross-training other staff as needed
Required Qualifications:
- TB test (provided at agency)
- Valid Oregon driver’s license, or valid out of state driver’s license with the ability to get an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of establishing residency in Oregon, and a driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy
- Three years of experience working independently with similar populations
- Experience working in the field, outside traditional settings
- Ability to maintain empathy with clients while establishing appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
- Ability to complete routine repairs and maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, and ability to stay neutral and unbiased
- Self-determined, highly motivated and solution focused
- Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of job performance
- Knowledge of the unique issues affecting high-risk communities and willingness to learn about culturally relevant interventions for gay and bisexual men, people who inject drugs and people living with HIV/AIDS.

- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times
- Excellent written and oral communication

- Lives in or near Eugene with a reliable vehicle and Oregon driver’s license.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to
- Repetitively use hands, including grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity to perform various necessary clerical duties, such as typing and writing.
- Frequently use arms, such as pushing & pulling to open/close drawers, cabinets, etc.
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time at an assigned station
- Bend, stand, & reach to be able to transport clients and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for tasks such as repairs, moving materials and maintenance.
- Use continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork

Working Conditions, Travel, and Environment:
The duties of this job require individuals to be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings. Additionally, the duties of this job include travel to other locations necessary to complete essential job functions, including the ability to transport self to job-related events and locations. This role requires regular reliable attendance, including:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Ability to work in loud, crowded, busy, or escalated environments
- Ability to drive at night and during various weather conditions safely
