Full Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE -

This position is responsible for all aspects of the kitchen activities for the HSS Shelter Programs. This position will provide direct supervision of staff assigned to the Kitchens, as well as providing meals to clients at the Eugene Service Station and safe sleep sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the HSS Shelter Programs Kitchen. This includes preparing, cooking and serving meals in accordance with proper Food Safety Regulations as well as providing direct supervision to all kitchen line staff.

· Responsible for the direct supervision of all kitchen staff and the HSS custodial staff.

· Responsible for ensuring the training, coaching and developing of staff to meet performance and safety standards.

· Oversee all kitchen activities to ensure minimum losses due to waste.

· Creates weekly/daily menus. Establishes portion sizes.

· Responsible for managing food donations, receiving, sorting, and storing properly.

· Conducts regular safety, sanitation and general inspections of the kitchen and all food storage areas to ensure safety and efficient production and storage in accordance with all health regulations.

· Ensures kitchen and dining areas are clean, sanitized and organized.

· Ensures services are consistent with regulatory and organizational standards.

· Provides input into budget development.

· Prepares agenda and conducts engaging monthly staff meeting and program meetings.

· Attend required meetings and training.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards and good housekeeping practices.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Minimum 3-5 years working experience preparing meals for large (200+) groups of people. Previous supervising in a kitchen environment is required.

· Strong understanding of USDA, OSHA and FDA Standards as they relate to this position.

· Experience maintaining client confidentiality and a professional code of ethics.

· Ability to obtain a State of Oregon Food Handlers card within 30 days of hire.

· Demonstrated experience in motivating others and coaching teams.

· Skills to create and maintain healthy professional boundaries.

· Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to articulate program guidelines and requirements to those with a variety of abilities and backgrounds.

· Knowledge of the daily realities and stressors facing unhoused people.

· Valid driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverages.

· Bilingual preferred.

Pay: $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
